At the beginning of September I received my Golf Simulator after reading some really good OptiShot Reviews. I paid $367 for my OptiShot which I thought was very good for something this advanced.

When it arrived I opened the box and got ready to set everything up. The OptiShot records your golf swing using infrared sensors which I found the hardest to align. One of the problems is the lighting. It has to be just right or you will get rubbish results on your PC. If there is too much light then the sensors don’t work properly, if there is not enough they do not work at all. The other negative is you cannot use it outside so you need a room big enough to swing a golf club. I found my living room was great for short irons but long irons and drivers just cannot be used.

After I had everything set as best as I could I started hitting balls and I must say the information I retrieved to improve my swing is quite impressive. After a few weeks working on my swing and watching for errors I have seen my scores improve at the club. The club face information at impact is one of the most handy results you can get as you can make small changes to your swing to get the club face aligned at the precise moment you hit the ball. Without a simulator you could never get this data without the use of some high speed camera equipment.

I also have played a couple of rounds of simulated golf on my OptiShot, this is really good fun and the 3D graphics are incredible. It almost feels like you are out on the course.
